Picture of Christian Estevez, Latino Action Network PresidentAccording to sources, Gov. Murphy, New Jersey’s  recently elected governor had plans to attend but could not due to a preplanned family commitment. A number of his representatives were on hand to answer questions and greet participants. The new governor is seen as a key ally by Latinos in New Jersey. Unlike, his predecessor Chris Christie, who was often antagonistic towards the Latino community, Gov. Murphy appears ready to dialogue and take action on behalf of this community.  The enthusiasm by participants and presenters on working towards a fair and just future for Latinos was palpable. However, many are worried that the situation Washington will continue to affect the states dreamers and immigrant population.
